Crowd-Steering Game: an Audience as One Controller
A computer-vision installation where a whole audience leans left or right together to steer a virtual vehicle through an obstacle course.

DomainBrand activation, computer vision
StackCamera-based motion tracking, real-time vector aggregation
Context
A bank wanted an experimental networking zone that matched its collaborative, high-tech brand: an installation where the audience acts as a team rather than watching.
My role
I conceived the game mechanic and directed the computer-vision and UX work.
What I did
- Designed a “majority vote” crowd-control game: the whole audience steers a virtual vehicle through an obstacle course by leaning left or right together.
- Directed the camera-based motion-tracking array and the rules for aggregating the crowd’s orientation vectors in real time with minimal latency.
- Supervised the UI/UX so the screen showed the crowd’s aggregate movement beside the main game stream.
- Coordinated the software developer, game designer and camera-tracking engineers, tuning sensitivity to avoid false positives from ambient venue lighting.
Result
- A passive audience became a synchronised, team-based controller.
- Stable tracking in a real venue with uncontrolled lighting.
