Gesture-Controlled Stage for a Banking Conference
A touchless presentation system on a panoramic projection stage, with a failover camera layer so live keynotes never dropped a command.

Context
A high-tech national banking conference used an ultra-wide panoramic projection stage. Touch panels were too large and too expensive for it, and executives had to manipulate dense financial data layouts live.
My role
I conceived the gesture-control approach and directed the development team and the physical build.
What I did
- Replaced physical touch panels with a touchless presentation system built on a synchronised network of depth-sensing and motion-detection cameras, mapped to the multi-projector grid.
- Led the interactive software team and wrote the requirements for tracking boundaries and gesture thresholds to match presenters’ walking speed and arm span.
- Specified a secondary camera tracking layer as a real-time failover so that live keynotes would not drop commands.
- Designed the stage lighting plot so speakers were fully lit without infrared saturation of the sensors.
- Directed the rigging of the truss structures that hold the panoramic screen taut and coordinated the software team, media-server operators and slide designers on site.
- Coached the executives on gesture zones in rehearsals.
Result
- Presenters controlled their slides with natural hand gestures on the giant screen.
- Delivered live without command drops thanks to the failover layer.
