Context
A multi-part corporate convention in the largest premium concert venue in Ukraine needed an episodic series of fully automated, frame-accurate multimedia stingers and interludes to structure and pace the whole main-stage agenda, every brand, thematic and speaker shift included.
My role
I was responsible for the creative concept, technical procurement and technical direction, from first storyboard to show call.
What I did
- Concept and show architecture. Visual rhythm and timeline; how video, light, lasers and pyrotechnics interact in one synchronised multi-sensory experience.
- Procurement. Vetted, negotiated and selected technical sub-contractors and rental companies, and wrote the engineering specification for AV, lighting, laser, rigging and SFX against a tight budget.
- Venue liaison. Worked with the venue’s house engineering team, verified rigging load limits for the overhead truss and coordinated heavy power distribution.
- Client approvals. Presented storyboards and the full show concept to the client’s leadership.
- Load-in and rehearsal. Directed the physical build-out, chaired the cue-by-cue technical rehearsals and tuned the timecode automation.
- One crew. Integrated independent sub-vendors into a single on-site team: 4 AV production, a lighting director and 5 technicians, 2 laser technicians, 2 sound engineers and a certified pyrotechnic team.
- Show call. Ran the strict schedule so transitions between executive keynotes and the entertainment blocks had no gaps.
Result
- A fully automated multimedia framework that governed every major segment change across the convention.
- Delivered live on a 3,500+ seat main stage.
