Connecting VR Training Simulators to an SAP-Backed LMS
Enterprise training results must reach the client’s learning system. A custom backend handled employee authorisation and result delivery behind SAP.

Context
Several of our enterprise training simulators had to report into the client’s learning management system (LMS). In these projects the LMS sat behind SAP, so a trainee’s identity, authorisation and results all had to cross the SAP boundary. The SAP side belonged to the client’s own SAP team.
My role
I owned the integration as a product: the requirements, the acceptance criteria and the delivery, and I worked directly with the client’s SAP team to agree who owns what.
What I did
- Defined what the simulator needs from the enterprise system: employee authorisation on entry and passing the results of each training session back.
- Had my team build a custom backend between the simulators and the LMS to handle authorisation and result delivery.
- Coordinated with the client’s SAP team, who owned the SAP side, so that responsibilities and interfaces were clear before development started.
Result
- Training sessions in VR simulators were tied to real employees and their results reached the client’s LMS.
- Integration treated as part of the product from the start, not as a late add-on — a pattern I now apply to every enterprise project.
